Wine Description: Round, full and velvety on the palate, this sweet version of Amarone is produced similarly in that the grapes are dried for 3 months before fermentation, but halted early to retain sweetness.
Food Match: Great as a dessert wine with chocolate, dark fruit pudding and cheese.
Winery Information: The Sgarzi family have been passionately making wine for many generations dating as far back as 1933. From a small winery delivering to local inns of Bologna, the current owner’s Grandfather, Luigi Sgarzi built the business into a much larger concern, that now ships the wines all over the World. This wine is closely connected to the greatest wine of Valpolicella: Amarone, which after pressing the dried grapes, a secondary alcoholic fermentation takes place adding extra depth and alcohol to the wine to make a richer style of wine.
